We follow the Read-Write-Inc phonics and reading scheme at Beauclerc.

Your child will bring home either a blending book, reading ditty sheet or a colour banded book that is closely matched to the phonic group they are in. 

The books are changed every Monday and Thursday.

Every Monday, your child will self select a book to share with you at home. It may be fiction, non-fiction or poetry- it is completely their choice.

Please read daily with your child and record what you read with them in their yellow reading diary. When reading their phonic book, encourage them to use their sounds to decode the words. Reception staff will also write in the diaries which books they have and which adult has read with them in school.
