Spring 1 – Would you like to go on a journey?

We’ve had an exciting half term filled with adventures and discoveries! Our topic, "Would you like to go on a journey?" took us on a whirlwind tour around the world, sparking curiosity and joy in our little explorers.

Our journey began right here in Sunbury. We talked about our community and then zoomed off to the heart of England, bustling London! We learned about famous landmarks like Big Ben and the Tower of London, imagining what it would be like to see them up close.

Next, we travelled to the wilds of South Africa, diving into a safari adventure. The children were thrilled to learn about animals like elephants and lions. The children made paintings of animals by exploring the patterns.

Our journey took a chilly turn as we became scientists exploring the icy land of Antarctica. We learned about penguins and how they survive in the cold, pretending to waddle just like them!

In Asia, we discovered fascinating animals like the giant panda and the magnificent tiger. The children loved learning about their habitats and even tried drawing their own versions of these beautiful creatures.

We swung over to the Amazon Rainforest next, where sloths and colourful birds delighted our imaginations. We talked about the lush environment and the importance of trees.

Finally, we hopped all the way to Australia to meet kangaroos, koalas, and the Great Barrier Reef! The children learned about the diverse wildlife that makes Australia so special.

In math, we explored patterns, measuring, and heights. We also became very familiar with the numbers 1 and 2, using them in fun and engaging ways throughout our activities.

We also enjoyed some wonderful workshops! Our music workshop introduced the children to an array of global instruments, with the drums being a particular favourite. Our circus workshop had the children giggling with excitement as they learned to spin plates and tried out other fun circus tricks.

It's been an amazing half term of discovery and learning. We hope your children enjoyed the journey as much as we did! Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm.

See you on our next adventure!

Welcome back Bumblebee Class! This week we were very busy reading 'Naughty Bus', exploring the ice and getting back into Drawing Club.

Week 2 - Exploring different parts of Africa, finding out what animals we might find there while reading The Ugly Five and creating patterns.
