Coffee Evening Workshop - Managing Challenging Behaviours

Workshop: Managing Challenging Behaviours
On behalf of Beauclerc and Chennestone Schools, I would like to invite you to a coffee evening workshop on managing challenging behaviours. The workshop will be hosted by Tracey House, who is a Specialist Teacher for Inclusive Practice at Surrey County Council.
During the workshop, Tracey will share strategies and information on how to manage challenging behaviours. You will have the opportunity to ask her questions and speak to other parents in similar situations.
We have arranged the workshop during the evening to offer the opportunity for as many of our parents and carers to attend.

NSPCC Speak Out Stay Safe Online Programme
Thu 13 Oct 2022Next week our children in KS1 and KS2 will be participating in the NSPCC's Speak out. Stay safe. online programme. The programme will be delivered in school through an online assembly and classroom based activities. A letter was sent home on Thursday 13th October with more information.

World Mental Health Day - 10th October 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,
RE: World Mental Health Day – Monday 10th October
Next Monday is World Mental Health Day and at Beauclerc and Chennestone schools, we will be marking the event with discussions and activities in class and assembly. This is an important day in our School calendar as it raises awareness of mental health and allows us to support the amazing Young Minds charity who work tirelessly to provide help and advice to young people and their families. The day is a chance for us to show young people who are struggling with their mental health that they are not alone.
The theme of 2022's World Mental Health Day, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is 'Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority'. The Day gives us a chance to talk about mental health in general, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to talk about things and get help if you are struggling. This also forms part of our PSHE curriculum and the pastoral support that we offer children daily.
In the UK, an estimated five children in every classroom have a mental health problem and 80% of young people with mental health needs said the pandemic made their mental health worse. Join us to show young people that how they feel matters, and help us create a future where all young people get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what. To take part, we ask that children wear something yellow on this day – it can be an entire yellow outfit or something as simple as a yellow ribbon, socks or scarf. They will not need to wear school uniform on this day. It would be lovely to see parents/carers wearing yellow at drop off too, so please feel free to join in!
We would like to support this fabulous charity by donating via the Young Minds website on https://www.youngminds.org.uk/support-us/donate/. The money you donate will help provide young people with tools to look after their mental health. As well as offering young people the space and confidence to get their voices heard and change the world we live in. Your donation will help create a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health.
We are really looking forward to the school being a sea of sunshine on this day and we thank you for your support with this special cause.

Notice regarding funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II

Dear Parent / Carer,
I am writing to you today following the extremely sad news last week regarding the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday. The government has decided that the State Funeral will be on Monday the 19th of September. This will be a bank holiday. They have directed schools to close for the duration of that day like all normal bank holidays. School will reopen on Tuesday the 20th September.
Their guidance states: ‘The official date of the State Funeral is 19 September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and settings that are normally closed on a bank holiday should close on this day as a mark of respect. This will include schools and colleges.’
The country is now officially in a period of national mourning until the end of the state funeral on the 19th of September. However, this week there should be no interruption to attendance and school will be open as normal throughout this week. The government guidance states ‘for schools and further education settings normal attendance is expected throughout the National Mourning period, other than the bank holiday’.
In school on Friday, we had some reflection time in classes as a mark of respect to the Queen. This week as part of national mourning we will be continuing to reflect further on the life of the Queen and the royal succession.
