Autumn 2 - Can I read you a traditional story?

This half term, our enchanting topic, "Can I read you a traditional story?", has sparked a world of wonder and imagination in our little learners. The children have dived into the world of fairy tales, joyfully exploring these timeless stories through play and creativity. Their enthusiasm truly shone during our special dress-up day and interactive workshop, where each child transformed into their favourite fairy-tale character!

Bumblebee Class also delighted in a variety of baking activities, bringing stories to life through delicious treats and learning about measuring and teamwork along the way. Our adventures didn't stop there! We embraced the joy of holidays and events by celebrating St Andrew's Day, marveling at Bonfire Night, honouring Remembrance Day, and learning about Hanukkah and Christmas. Through these explorations, the children gained a deeper understanding of different cultures and traditions, making this term a truly magical journey.

We hope you have a magical Christmas break and have time to rest before the new half term!

Welcome back Bumblebee Class! This week we jumped straight back into action with our new learning question ‘Can I Read You a Traditional Tale?’. This week we read The Three Little Pigs, while having a go at retelling the story when painting the houses. We also started phase 1 phonics where we have started to use our ears to listen to animal noises. In Mathematics we recapped our learning from last half term. We had a celebration focus on Bonfire Night, and created sparkly fireworks and spoke about the noises and smells. We also started to think about Remembrance Day while starting to make our poppies.

This week has been very busy. We kicked off with Odd Socks Day for Anti-bulling week, celebrating how unique we all are and discussing the importance of kindness. The children got creative making a beautiful poppies for Remembrance Day, helping them understand the value of remembering and respecting others. Our fairy tale day was a fantastic day. We dived into the enchanting forest and went on a fantastic adventure. This week’s story was Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In Mathematic we looked at sharing and what is fair and unfair.
