Autumn Term 1 - All About Me

12th - 16th September 2022 - Welcome to Bumblebee Class! Whether you were here last year or just starting this year, we are excited to have you learning with us. This week we were very busy settling into being at school and being very busy in the classroom. Our first topic this year is ‘All About Me’, this is where we will be thinking about ourselves, our families and the people around us. We will be having a think about what makes us all special and we will be taking turns with sharing the ‘All About Me’ books that we gave you before summer or on the home visit. We are all very excited to get you know you all!

20th – 23rd September- This week we had our first full week of learning. The children are learning the class routines and rules and getting to know each other by reading out ‘All about Me’ books. Bumblebee class have really enjoyed painting this week and have worked really hard on creating a self-portrait to look at all the different colours and shapes that are on our faces.

26th September - 7th October – Over the last two weeks we have had a focus on ‘Family’. Bumblebee Class have had a chance to talk about their family and draw them in our family book. Thank you to the families who sent a picture of their family to the office. We have been practising our cutting skills by making some fabulous shape pictures, and they have been continuing to explore the classroom environment.

10th – 14th October 2022 – This week the children have been thinking about what makes them special and making sure they know that all of our friends are welcome in Bumblebee Class. We have been reading ‘Happy in Our Skin’ and ‘All Are Welcome’. The children have loved learning about shapes this week, and have enjoyed drawing them with the different tools.

17th – 21st October – This week Bumblebee class have been extremely busy in their last week of ‘All About Me’. This week we had a focus on growing. Thank you for everyone who sent in their baby picture, as the children were able to think about the differences between them as a baby and what they can do now. The children also loved taking care of their babies as well, trying to dress and feed them. In the afternoon we looked at the book ‘Melissa's Octopus and Other Unsuitable Pets’ by Charlotte Voake. We thought about what would and would not make a suitable pet and they were able to create their own. Bumblebee class took part in a nature walk of the school finding different items they could find in the Autumn weather. We hope you have a lovely half term, and all come back well rested.
