WELCOME TO YELLOW CLASS

Hello! We are Yellow Class. We are a reception class with 27 children and two adults. Our teacher’s name is Mrs James, and this is her second year working at Beauclerc. Our teaching assistant’s name is Mrs Horton, and she wears a lot of different hats in the school, like dinner lady, governor and breakfast club manager. Some of the children in our class go to breakfast club every day and some go on the Walking Bus to ‘Happy Days’, a special after school club at Chennestone.

In our class there are fifteen girls and thirteen boys, and a lot of us already knew each other from the nursery here at Beauclerc. We love playing outside in Yellow class’ outdoor area, riding in the cars and on the bikes, climbing on the special equipment, dressing up, and playing in the water tray. We are really lucky because our classroom backs onto the school field, and when the weather is good we can use it to run around on, and have picnics. We are also very close to the school’s nature garden, so we get to use it quite a lot!!

We have a lovely classroom with lots of great things to play with. A lot of us really like to make things in our creative area, as well as build things using all kinds of construction. Another favourite activity is the computer. We have four computers in the classroom, plus an interactive white board, and it is very rare that there is an empty space! We love our jungle themed reading and writing area as it is a nice quiet place for us to enjoy.

We all have great imaginations and can make games out of anything! We love listening to stories and singing songs – we especially like our music lesson with Mrs Bartlett every Friday.

We have fruit time in the classroom every day, and this is a great time for us to chat to each other or our adults. We will have ‘Show and Tell’ every day so we can take it in turns to share our news or show something to the class. This helps us with our speaking and listening. We are hoping to have lots of parent helpers this year so that we can do cooking every week (we especially like making play dough!), and are looking forward to doing lots of growing this year – fingers crossed!!
