ACTIVEMARK 2009

Our Activate mark was renewed recently for 2009 - it means that at least 90% of pupils across the school were doing at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport a week.

Eco-Schools Green Flag Award

In October 2009 this award was renewed. The Eco-Schools is an award that enables your school to analyse its operations and become more sustainable whilst reducing the environmental impact of the whole school on the community.  The scheme also helps children become more effective citizens by encouraging them to take responsibility for the future of their own environment. It is about environmental excellence and how your school can start to look at how it impacts upon the environment and how this is decided upon and can be managed. Our pupils have engaged in the whole process, including monitoring, action planning and decision-making which leads to genuine ownership of the programme and an increase in their sense of responsibility for the school environment and local area. The award scheme has three award levels and we were able to obtain the
highest level - Green Flag
• Bronze award - self-assessed via website leading to a certificate
• Silver award - self-assessed via website leading to a certificate
• Green Flag - externally assessed leading to a certificate and flag
Eco-Schools is run internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

Arts Council England Artsmark gold award

In May 2007 we received the highest possible award to recognise our commitment to the Arts including Music, Drama, Art, Dance and Literacy. This is quite an achievement for a small infant school. Our main aim within the Arts is to maintain our high expectations and achievements in these areas.

In Autumn 2007 we were reaccredited under the new stricter    Investor in People guidelines. This is a recognition of the school's commitment to the development of its staff.  The assessment officials said that The leadership team have provided strong direction but also presented people with a lot of scope to develop their own ideas within these defined parameters. People welcome this freedom, both as a sign of trust in their abilities and as an opportunity to influence school practice.”

We are delighted to have received this highly regarded award and are thrilled with the excellent report on the school. It reflects well on everyone involved with the school and recognises the high level of commitment and professionalism among the staff. Indeed, the staff deserves enormous credit for all that they contribute to the school in many different ways.

remarked that "Work carried out in the school had been consistently of a very high standard". "The atmosphere in the school was positive and welcoming." "That the excellent displays throughout the school reinforce healthy messages, and all of the classrooms are highly decorated with stimulating and lively exhibits"
