Welcome to Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club was opened on the 9th Sept 2005.

My name is Mrs Horton and I am the Club’s Manager, I am also the Teaching Assistant in Yellow Class (Reception). The Club’s Assistant is Mrs Lawless. We operate a drop in facility (pre-booking not necessary). The Club is now open from 7.45am-9am to the whole school. Our charges are £3.00 from 7.45am, £2.50 from 8am and £1.00 from 8.30am (which excludes Breakfast.)

The Club has children from the Nursery and Main School and we encourage the older children to play with and help the younger ones and any new children settle in, they are helped by the two children which have been chosen to be breakfast buddies. This is a fantastic opportunity for making new friends.

We have found that the Nursery children settle quicker when they come to the main school because they are so used to coming into the hall and they already know so many of the older children.

We have lots of activities planned throughout the year, most of which are linked to an event in the calendar for eg. Xmas, Easter, Mothers/Fathers Day etc. In addition to this we have games both physical and board, books to read, puzzles and Soft toys.

A reward system has recently been introduced to encourage good behaviour, being helpful and good manners. The children can receive a certificate which is given out each month, they also receive stickers. We have a Front of Line system where each child gets a turn at leading the rest of the children into the playground.

As a result of a couple of surveys carried out by the Breakfast Club we have implemented additions to our menu (within SCC guidelines for nutrition) and also as a result of suggestions made by the children about what they would like to do at the club, new games and toys.

The following is part of our fantastic range of healthy foods and drink available on a daily basis. The following drinks and cereals are made with full fat or semi-skimmed milk according to guidelines.

Head Start Omega 3 Bread, Hovis Best of Both, Kingsmill 50/50.

White and Wholemeal Bread Muffins, Healthy Eating Pancakes & Croissants.

Multigrain Cereals, Wheat Flakes with Fruit, Shreddies, Rice Crispies and Weetabix etc.

A selection of fruit including grapes, oranges, apples & Bananas etc.

Petit Filous Yoghurt with fruit etc.
